Why does my power keep tripping?
If the RCCB (the residual current breaker, sometimes still called an ELCB) trips, there's usually earth leakage — a faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor socket or water heater, or damaged wiring. If an MCB trips, that circuit is overloaded or has a short. Quick check: switch everything off at the DB, unplug all appliances, reset, then plug things back in one at a time. If it still trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is in the wiring and needs an electrician.
Old wiring in KL homes
Many terrace houses and condos built in the 1980s and 1990s still have their original wiring and DB box. Warning signs are frequent tripping, warm or discoloured sockets, flickering lights, burning smells and an old fuse-type DB. You don't always need a full rewire — often the DB box and the worst circuits can be upgraded first.
Adding power points and lights
New points can be run as surface wiring in neat trunking or concealed inside the wall, which looks cleaner but takes longer because the wall is chased and patched. Before adding several high-power points, the DB box and main cable should be checked so the new load is safe. Condos may have rules about hacking walls — check with management first.
Who is allowed to do electrical work?
Under Malaysia's Electricity Regulations 1994, wiring work must be supervised by a wireman holding a Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) certificate of competency, and new installations should be tested before use. Ask any electrician — including us — to show the wireman's certificate. Never let anyone bypass or remove your RCCB to stop tripping; it's your protection against electric shock.
Water heater, fan and aircond points
Water heaters and aircond units should each have their own properly rated circuit and earth, not share a socket. Ceiling fans need a solid fixing point in the ceiling — in condos with plaster ceilings, we check the structure before installing.

About Electrical.
- Can you install a smart switch / smart bulb setup?
- Yes. We install most smart switch brands (Aqara, Sonoff, Tuya, MOES) and pair them to your hub or app on the spot.
- My breaker keeps tripping — can you diagnose it?
- Absolutely. Most breaker trips are caused by overloaded circuits or a single faulty appliance. We trace it on-site and explain what we find.
- Do I need to switch off the power before you arrive?
- No. Our electricians handle isolation safely on arrival.
- Is it safe to keep resetting the RCCB?
- Once or twice to test is fine. If it keeps tripping, stop resetting it — it's warning you about a fault. Leave the affected circuit off and get it checked.
- Can you fix problems with the TNB meter or incoming supply?
- The meter and the supply up to it belong to TNB, so faults there must be reported to TNB. We handle everything after the meter — the DB box, wiring, points, lights and appliances.
- Can you install ceiling fans and lights in a condo?
- Yes. We check the ceiling type and fixing point first, and use the existing light point where possible to avoid extra wiring.
